Holy God,
Heaven and earth are filled with glory
Hosanna in the highest
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord

Sanctus Deus,
Pleni sunt cæli et terra gloria.
Hosanna in excelsis.
Benedictus qui venit in nomine Domini.

COMPOSER NOTE:

Short mantra-like motives of the traditional Sanctus text are introduced by solo voices, then gradually layered together. Eventually, the entire ensemble joins as all motives are sung concurrently. The combined effect of harmonies, text, instrumentation, and layering aims to produce a sound that is simultaneously ancient and modern.
